Exploring the World’s Top 10 Zoos
Zoos satisfy our curiosity about wildlife we don’t often see and provide educational opportunities for children. It’s no surprise that animal lovers, both young and old, are drawn to these places. So, which zoos rank among the best in the world, and what makes them stand out? Let’s dive in and uncover the details behind these remarkable institutions.

1. National Zoological Garden, South Africa
The National Zoological Garden in South Africa is the largest and most renowned on the African continent. Operating since 1899 in Pretoria, it’s often called the Pretoria Zoo. It’s estimated to house over 9,000 animals, including both terrestrial and marine species. Visitors can see African penguins, savanna elephants, hippos, and even the endangered okapi. If you’re traveling to South Africa, this zoo is a must-visit.
2. Wellington Zoo, New Zealand
